[ It’s not every day somebody that he’s learned about takes him by surprise, but this is the second time that Gojo has done that (and the first time being Purple Hollow, rip his ass) and maybe that’s some reason he thinks he can tolerate him somewhat. Unlike Gojo, Toji finds it fun to be taken off guard; to not know what to expect.
His plan for Megumi was never intended to be what it ended up. Toji never planned on having kids and neither did he plan on falling in love— especially with someone who wanted kids. Life has a funny way of changing things and also making things extremely difficult. The reason for his neglect wasn’t a good reason (because, well, there’s really no good for reason for that) but it wasn’t out of dislike for his children. He just knew his life would revert back to its shady ways after his first wife passed. He didn’t know the first thing about raising a child and he didn’t have an interest in learning. The lifestyle he would return to wouldn’t suit him being a father. He thought what he was doing would benefit them, especially Megumi, in the end.
It sounds like Gojo is praising something about him, though. Never was he praised for strength or his body which seemed to be ostracized by his family. In fact, Toji is certain he’s never read or heard anything like this before in regards to himself.
It takes a moment for him to respond. Surely he should reply to all of this, right?
Right?? ]

it doesn’t matter why you did it for my sake or not you still had every reason to not do it and you still did
[ This is the closest thing to thanks that Gojo will ever get. ]

this is different. unsettling, a little, if only because it shakes up things he'd taken as absolutes. )
Might be more to me than anyone sees after all, huh?
See you tomorrow night.
