[ Fortunately, Toji is asleep at that hour. He had quite the busy evening with Ishmael the other night, and since he's still gloriously unemployed, he's taking time to sleep whenever he can. Though, the next morning when he gets this voicemail, he's unsure what it's going to be about since it's from Yor, but he listens closely as he sits up from his bed and allows the voicemail to play on his implant.
He listens to it. And then again, because he can't really understand some of her words when she's talking like this. Then, he finds himself listening to it a third time.. because he made it replay by accident. Then, a fourth time.. just because. A fifth time, because even when she's slurring like this, her voice is soothing. A sixth time, because.. well. He doesn't even know why. He knows she's drunk and maybe she didn't mean everything she just said, but he had given up making any advancements to her after she rejected his kiss at the cherry blossom festival. This voicemail proves that she's interested, though. She likes him a lot, she says. She would kiss him if she had another chance to. But maybe that's just alcohol talking, right? If that was really the case, why didn't she let him when the opportunity was presented to him? She said she's bad with men and social situations, was that it?
Toji listens to it a seventh time, mostly because he's lonely. He should send her a message and reassure her everything is okay. He should also encourage her and tell her not to feel bad about herself. He should lavish her with positive affirmations, that her strength is something beautiful and she shouldn't be ashamed of.
He should ... but he can't. Not like this so suddenly.
This is all too familiar with how he felt about his first wife and he's realized now why it's been so hard to be normal and flirtatious with her. She's just like Megumi's mom, and losing her was too painful.. he doesn't know if he should risk going through it again.
He has to think a little more before doing anything. Maybe it's some he sought out advice, but he doesn't even know who he could turn to when it comes to something like this, because that means he would probably have to open up about his deceased wife and he isn't sure who he can be vulnerable with when it comes to something like that. He's never talked to anyone about her.
